Fees and Funding

Epicentred programs and individual therapy sessions can be subsidised or fully funded through several Australian health and disability schemes.

Medicare: GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP)

Because epilepsy is a chronic, long-term medical condition, your child may be eligible for a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (formerly known as a CDMP or Care Plan).

What it covers:

This plan allows families to claim a Medicare rebate for up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year.

How it helps: It is specifically designed to help manage the psychological impact, lifestyle adjustments, and emotional distress that can co-occur with a physical chronic illness like epilepsy.

How to access it:

Book a longer appointment with your GP to discuss your child's complex care needs and request a referral to Epicentred under Medicare item 10968.

Medicare: Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)

If your child is experiencing significant, ongoing mental health challenges—such as severe anxiety surrounding seizures, mood changes, or school refusal—a Mental Health Care Plan (under the Better Access initiative) may be the right pathway.

What it covers:

This plan provides a Medicare rebate for up to 10 individual therapy sessions and 10 group therapy sessions per calendar year.

How it works:

Your GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist will initially refer your child for up to 6 sessions. After a progress review, they can authorise the remaining 4 sessions.

Please note:

A child can have both a Chronic Condition Plan and a Mental Health Care Plan if they meet the criteria for both, allowing for a comprehensive, wraparound approach to their care.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

If your child has NDIS funding, they can use their plan to access Epicentred’s individual therapies and group programs.

Eligible Funding Categories:

Services are typically funded under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living, which covers therapeutic supports aimed at building independence, emotional regulation, and social community participation.

Plan Management: We accept both Self-Managed and Plan-Managed NDIS participants.
